Auszug: A therapist once told me that babies are born with so much aggression that the power of it could catapult them out of their crib. I had always thought that people earned their intensity, that they acquired it with experience, like depth and perception. It seems it's all there from the start. Like a birthright. One mother said that her baby, at five months, knew that if he cried his mother would come, but if he coughed, she'd hurry. Perhaps all that raw, untamed emotion becomes mitigated over time, once one discovers how to get a desired response.
