Kurzbeschreibung: The industrial and furniture design illustrated in this book, dating mostly from the 1980s and early 90s, do not have so very much in common with the Bauhaus tradition, though. Like the 80s in general, they tend far more to a New Sensuousness. The 80s debate on architecture made the issue plain: Mies van der Rohe's slogan "Less is more" was countered with Robert Venturi's parodic "Less is bore", and the imagination, hitherto in the chains of functionalism, was free to soar again. For a while, this was considered poor style. But many designers shrugged critism off, determined to put a categorical end to functional desolation. The dictates of the Bauhaus and the Ulm School of Design, especially widespread in Germany, bored people to tears.
